Frédéric
Berthod is born on the 2nd of july 1978 in Sierre in Switzerland.
He completes his violinmaking studies in Cremona at the International
Violinmaking School "Antonio Stradivari", winning
the Ferraboni price for his high results, in the year 2000.
Following his studies he prolonges his stay in Cremona until
the year 2003 working in the shop of the violinmaker Marco Nolli,
with the purpose of learning new construction methods and learning
to work in the exact style of his teacher. Following this enriching
experience, he starts a collaboration with the violinmaker Peter
Pots. Together they found the violinmaking workshop called "Atelier
la Bastia", which is situated in Scurano (Parma Italy).
Here he dedicates his work mostly to the construction and development
of new cello models.
Since spring 2005 untill 2009, Frédéric Berthod
has his seat in Champzabé-Noës (Valais, Switzerland),
and since may 2009 he has his new workshop in Martigny (Switzerland)
where he builds violins, violas, cellos and Double basses.
